PlanetAir's new Tri-fecta 50 is the first in a new line of greens maintenance tools. It is named because it does three proceedures in one operation.
Shatter Knife
Our shatter knife technology —combined with our patented planetary motion—slices the stolens and rhizomes and creates pore space throughout your root zone, eliminating compaction and causing more parent plants. These parent plants develope a finer leaf texture for a better putting surface.
Relieve Surface Compaction
The moving of soil particles and shattering below opens blocked macropores. When macropores are blocked and not available for water they are not available for root growth. (Dr. Bowen)
Relieve Fingering or Streaming of Water
Relieves fingering or streaming when soil layering. When water infiltrates and reaches an interface or layering the water will pond. At that point when the water pushes through at that point, approximately 70% of the water will move through 30% of the profile. (Dr Bowen )
Best Venting Tool In Existence
Creates excellent air exchange for healthier turf. Creates a looser soil structure that enhances plant recovery and stimulates turf growth.
Maximize Water Infiltration
Maximizes water infiltration rates by allowing water to penetrate the soil profile at a faster rate.
PlanetAir Sells Oxygen
Oxygen gets sucked in behind the water movement down and laterally
Root Growth
New white root growth every time
New Approaches for Controlling Organic Matter Accumulation - Interaction Between Aerification Type, Frequency, Density in the Cultural Management of Ultradwarf Bermudagrasses
Executive Summary for Web 2008 TREES Awards Author/PI’s Kurt Steinke* Collaborators: David Chalmers and Milt Engelke Title: New Technology to Eliminate Organic Matter Accumulation in Bermudagrass Putting Greens Objectives: Compare new venting aerification technologies with industry standard practices of organic matter extraction and organic matter dilution on high, moderate, and low growth rate bermudagrass varieties. Impact: South Texas alone has more than 150 golf courses with 99% of these locations managing bermudagrass greens. Currently superintendents do not have effective methods to adequately manage organic matter accumulation in bermudagrass greens. Texas golf courses are faced with non-stop traffic and rounds of golf 365 days a year and need to find tools to cut water consumption, pesticide use, and still produce quality putting greens year round. The objectives are to 1) determine the benefits and limitations of new venting aerification technology in managing organic matter accumulation in high, moderate, and low growth rate bermudagrass varieties, and 2) compare venting aerification with the industry standard practices of organic matter extraction (conventional aerification) and organic matter dilution (topdressing). Preliminary data indicate Planetair® venting technology may:
The research differs from previous work because the new venting aerification technology has not been compared directly with conventional aerification and topdressing methods, and scientific information on ways to successfully manage aggressive varieties of bermudagrass putting greens does not exist. We will monitor thatch reduction/accumulation in a previously established (1997) bermudagrass putting green varieties (Tifdwarf, Tifeagle and Mini-Verde).
